This blog will contain all of the fun stuff that I am building for my engineering class, and around my appartment. hopefully it will be full of pictures and such. So enjoy this crazy stuff.

My OLD major

This is my old major, and wont be using it at all anymore. I'm going to attempt to keep a new post up about my Mechanical Engineering Degree. I am about half way done, and this next year shoudl be an interesting one with building robots and fun stuff like that. So, I'll do my best too keep you updated.

Trusses

Here we are making progress on our sheds. Those are the trusses that will hold up the roof in the near future. Dont worry, I do have more than one shirt.
As you can see, we're just nailing away on this here wood. It looks like the weather is letting up, and we will be on our way to laying foundation and cement. Soon you will see a tougher than tuff shed.

Casting

Here we are in one of my engineering classes, pulling molten aluminum out of the crucible.
This is my hand made mold for a soon to be C-Clamp.
It’s Hot, Hot, Hot! Don’t stick your finger in, you might lose it. Just dancin' around the fire. Check out that apron, and awesome mittens. You would think that were in the most extreme Home Ec. class ever. That’s no brownie maker, trust me.
Pooring, pooring, keep it flowing. Wait not too much, not to little. Watch out!
Just degassing it, nothing to see here.

Small Engines

Now were on to engines. This is a lawn mower 4 stroke engine that we have disassembled. We took some measurements and are now trying to put it back together. This is a whole lot funnier then the usual Lego's. What next, rockets? hahahah Check it out!

Nailer

Building the shed is coming along just nicely. This nail gun and I are best friends. We construct walls, toe up studs, attach ply, fix, join and flat out tear it up. I guess you could just put it in simpler terms and call it a power trip; you decide. “WHAM, WHAM, WHAM!” You can’t help but smile. Try it, and you’ll smile too.

Project Save Billy!
As group of engineering students at Utah State University we have been assigned the mission of building a solar powered water heater for Tibetans. Sounds complicated doesn’t it? Well it is. We have to come up with a way to heat water to heat showers in Tibetan schools. During the day the temperature can get up to past boiling, and in the night temperatures fall below zero. Crazy terrain, terrible conditions, low resources, millions of miles away and we smile. Most engineers would beg for such good conditions. Ha ha ha, no challenge to big; no cause to small. Keep watching to see how the tests go. In these pictures you will see how we are building the housing station for the 50 gallon water jugs, and setting up the perfectly angled ramp for heating water in pipes.

The test: building.
Why: to learn, grow, become a man, and you know the basics of building.
Questions? : None?
What: This poor sand box will soon be demolished and daddy’s shed filled with toys and goods will be built in its place. In my construction class at school we are building sheds. So this lucky family gets a college hand built Grade A shed. I'll keep you updated on the building process.

My roommate Levi and I decide to enter the USU Institute Derby with this astonishing unbeatable winner. It's called "HAMMER HEAD." Strikes fear into the hearts of all. The trick is that no one can pass it, thus we win. The only flaw was that we couldn’t make it through the finishing gates. Sad eh? Oh well, we have some remodeling to do for next season. Long live Hammer Head.
